This month has gone by in a flash, quicker than all the previous months, mostly because I was counting down the days|hours|minutes|seconds until hubby finished work and would be home with me for Christmas and New Year. There’s the usual mix of old and new-ish, all available to listen to on my Spotify playlist.
We all know I love a dance track but I also admire the brazen hook up nature of the lyrics. One to play as an ode to my laminated list!
Favourite lyric: I’m not looking for a serious thing / Let’s keep it casual we can do our thang / But I would love to spend a night with you
Another day, another rocker fallen prey to his vices. Sad news to hear of Scott Weiland’s death. I know STP are better known for their thrashier numbers but this is such a sweet song with building vocals and melodies, plus there’s something about whistling in songs that I find endearing.
Favourite lyric: My love is unusual / It’s painted with roses and thorns / with her I’m complete
Pour Some Sugar On Me – Def Leppard
There’s a running joke in my household that I refuse to like Def Leppard, but they’re one of our most played artists – their cover of Action has an awesome riff. This song always makes me think of 80’s style strippers and the dancing is reminiscent of that style too! Plus it has the best tea-related lyrics ever.
Favourite lyric: Do you take sugar? one lump or two?
Luck Be A Lady – Frank Sinatra
Long story short, I hummed this in my head whilst dancing down a huge marble staircase in a Bruxellois museum and it’s stuck ever since!
Favourite lyric: A lady never flirts with strangers / She’d have a heart, she’d be nice / A lady doesn’t wander all over the room / And blow on some other guys dice
I Could Have Danced All Night – My Fair Lady
What’s with me and show tunes this month?! Another song I couldn’t stop singing aloud in the woods which prompted a dance in the woods.
Favourite lyric: I only know when he began to dance with me / I could have danced, danced, danced all night
Thanks for listening. Here’s to 2016 and all the earworms!
